From the Principal
My third year at Purcell Marian High School has been exciting, challenging, and rewarding. Personally, it has been another year of learning, planning, and seeing several exciting initiatives get underway. Among these is certainly the technology initiative in which we have entered into a partnership with CBTS and Sun Microsystems. Phase II is underway with additional work to be completed this summer. We are also currently working with an alumni group, St. Francis DeSales Parish and School, and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati to move forward a proposal to create an on-campus athletic practice field. Good things continue to come our way as “our story” becomes better understood and people step up to make “investments” to support this outstanding school! Good things,” such as the two initiatives noted above are always uplifting. However, the direct experiences I have had this year with staff members, parents, and the young people of the Purcell Marian community going about the business of getting a “complete education,” one that is based on Catholic Christian principles and teachings, continues to energize me to provide leadership to move Purcell Marian High School forward. I am really looking forward to next year.
Congratulations to the Class of 2008! The excitement I share with these young men and women over their graduation, their accomplishments, their plans, and the opportunities that wait for them are tempered only by the loss of contact with them after only my first three years at Purcell Marian. Be assured though, that while this great group of seniors may be gone from the halls of Purcell Marian High School, they will not be forgotten. Rather, they will be remembered fondly. Good luck in all you do and God Bless you always!
Just as the members of the Class of 2008 will not be forgotten, we hope they will not forget us. Please encourage them to stop by, call, send an e-mail, or even write a letter. Knowing how they do is most important to those of us at Purcell Marian because it is in their success that we realize our success. Direct feedback from our alumni is an important part of how we can best learn what we need to continue to do and what adjustments we need to make.
I hope that everyone in the Purcell Marian community has a wonderful summer. While summer affords an opportunity for some relaxation, it also presents many opportunities to explore future educational opportunities, leadership experiences, self-directed learning, and simply a chance to step back, review the past, and set goals for next year and beyond. Inspired by the many successes of our recent graduates, we know that there is much to be accomplished by our students who follow them. By continuing to work together, students, parents, and school staff, these accomplishments will be realized. Simply, while we have done much, we still have much to do at Purcell Marian, and we will do it!
