In an effort to administer a successful athletics program, we look to meet the needs and interest of our student body. Athletics plays an integral role in
offering a complete high school educational experience, while assisting in the development of well-rounded individuals. The lessons learned and taught while involved in athletics are invaluable.
Sportsmanship, commitment, teamwork, cooperation, leadership and fair play will be taught in respect to the game. Cavaliers strive to bring dignity and self-control to the contest, win or lose. And athletic participation also plays a major role in helping students to develop a healthy self-image, as well as a healthy body.
Our smaller school size not only makes these opportunities more available to each student, it increases the value of each and every student athlete to our cause.
At the same time, participation is a privilege that carries with it responsibilities to the activity, to the student body, to the community and to the students themselves. Our “bottom line” is that, during our students’ high school athletic experience, Purcell Marian student athletes will have fun and build fulfilling life-long relationships — and establish future opportunities that exceed any other parochial high school.
Our programs will strive to provide an opportunity for our students to release stress in a healthy manner and instill fitness for life as a core value. The product of our investment in athletics will be healthy adults who contribute to their community in a positive manner.
Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. –Romans 12:4-8
