Nurtured. Challenged. Inspired.

Recent graduate, Ismael “Izzy” Espinoza Calderon ‘24, reflects on the impact Purcell Marian had on his life as he begins his journey at the University of Dayton.

My name is Ismael “Izzy” Espinoza Calderon, and I am honored to be an alumnus of Purcell Marian High School, Class of 2024. As a recent graduate, starting college at the University of Dayton, I have been reflecting on my four years as a student at Purcell Marian.

I wanted to share with you firsthand the transformative power of our Catholic community and why your support of students today means so much.

One of the most significant milestones in my educational journey has been earning the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma. Achieving this diploma means that everything my family and I have worked for is paying off.

The journey through the IB diploma program at Purcell Marian was made even more meaningful by the presence of my classmates, and the supportive community of teachers that I found at Purcell Marian High School. Having peers who understood the challenges and joys of the program, and teachers who wanted the best from me, made a significant difference. We supported and encouraged each other, and it created a bond that I will cherish forever. At the same time, it allowed me to offer my help and support my classmates, bringing to life the Marianist family spirit.

Purcell Marian High School is more than just an educational institution; it is a place where students are nurtured, challenged, and inspired to become the best versions of themselves. These values have shaped me into the person I am today and have provided me with a strong foundation for my future.

Making this kind of impact on my life, and on the lives of students who are choosing Purcell Marian, requires resources and support from our community.

As a recent graduate who benefitted from the generosity of alumni and supporters as a student, today, I ask for your contribution to Purcell Marian High School. With your gift, you can help ensure that future generations of students have the same opportunities and experiences that have been so instrumental in my personal and academic growth.

Will you make your gift to the Annual Fund today?

With heartfelt gratitude,

Ismael “Izzy” Espinoza Calderon
