Praestans Inter Omnes: Amirah Davis ’02

April 30, 2020
Purcell Marian High School is recognizing our alumni, students, and family working on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. Today we highlight Nurse Practitioner Amirah Davis '02. If you would like to share your story or the story of somebody within our Purcell Marian family who is currently working through these challenging times, please send them to info@purcellmarian.org.

As a student at Purcell Marian, Amirah Davis '02 knew she wanted to be a nurse. She took that goal to the next level when she became a Nurse Practitioner in 2017. She's always enjoyed the special moments of her job.

"Hearing a baby’s heartbeat with a new mom for the first time! That is the best moment ever! It makes your day," said Davis. "Then seeing that same mom bring her baby back after delivery! I knew I had something to do with it."

The COVID-19 crisis has forced Davis to wear PPE every day and do more tele-vists with patients, but she is still doing the critical work she loves. As the secretary of the Cincinnati Black NP network, Davis helped organize an drive to donate essential items for local senior citizens. The group is also coming together to educate the community about COVID-19 and assist with Telephonic visits in the near future.
