August 11, 2025

Purcell Marian High School proudly congratulates Bob Herring ’68, our Director of Global Programs, on receiving the 2025 Innovation in Humanitarian Assistance Award from Sister Cities International (SCI).

This prestigious honor celebrates exceptional Sister City programs that promote peace through mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation between communities across the globe.

Herring accepted the award on behalf of the Cincinnati Kharkiv Sister City Partnership (CKSCP), where he serves as President, during the SCI Annual Meeting in Fort Worth, Texas. In his remarks, he credited the collective generosity of the Cincinnati community:

“This award belongs to the people of Cincinnati who generously shared their resources to help the citizens of Kharkiv survive under almost daily bombardment from the Russian army,” Herring said. “Their generosity speaks volumes about the value and importance of this Sister City connection.”

CKSCP has provided critical support and humanitarian relief to Kharkiv, Ukraine, amid the ongoing conflict, strengthening the enduring bond between the two cities.
